Weitz and THR will style A-list Hollywood actors and VIP executives tied to major red carpet events.
The Hollywood Reporter is joining forces with Andrew Weitz, style consultant to top Hollywood executives and talent including Elon Musk, Tom Brady and Ari Emanuel, to create an original series called Hollywood Style Clinic With Andrew Weitz,
THR announced Thursday. Each video installment will take THR‘s audience behind the scenes as Weitz prepares an executive or star for a Hollywood event, helping optimize personal style.
The Sept. 13 premiere, timed to THR‘s annual Emmys preview issue, features Westworld star and outstanding guest actor in a drama series nominee Jimmi Simpson, as he prepares his look for the red carpet. The premiere and each subsequent episode will include an original consultation between Weitz and his VIP client, followed by Weitz working with top brands in men’s fashion to create distinct, comprehensive looks; the client will select one of Weitz’s looks that best represents their personal sense of style.
“We’re thrilled to have Andrew joining The Hollywood Reporter as a regular men’s style contributor,” said Matthew Belloni, editorial director of The Hollywood Reporter. “He takes a practical, holistic approach to developing personal and professional style. We’ve been working with Andrew on print pieces and looking for a way to increase our partnership, and Hollywood Style Clinic is the perfect fit.”
Weitz has been described as one of the best dressed men in Hollywood and Top 50 Best Dressed Men in the World (2017) by British GQ. During his 11-year tenure as a talent agent at WME/IMG, Weitz found himself constantly sharing style tips and knowledge with his star clients and VIP colleagues, including Emanuel, and eventually decided that empowering others through upgrading their image was his true calling. He founded The Weitz Effect in 2014, and has since been named a member of the British Fashion Council and the Mr. Porter Style Council.
“Helping clients reach their full potential has been my singular mission since I started my business in 2014,” said Weitz. “Many men don’t see the link between style, confidence, and success, but THR‘s style team is clearly as committed to a holistic view of fashion as I am. I couldn’t be more excited to begin this partnership, and to hopefully show THR‘s audience that anyone can be empowered by focusing on their personal style from the outside in.”
The partnership with Weitz is the latest milestone in an aggressive move into video for THR. Led creatively by Jennifer Laski, the THR video series, including THR‘s signature Roundtables, garnered a record-breaking 533 million cross-platform views in 2017 — up from 222 million in 2016 — while also developing new TV projects including a scripted Angelyne limited series, inspired by THR senior writer Gary Baum’s investigative feature on the Los Angeles billboard diva and executive produced by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail.
